High school career program case study materials now available

June_2017_factory_tour.jpgThe Aspirational Careers Development Program is a set of activities for year nine students aimed at exploring career options through contact with local industry representatives and excursions to a variety of workplaces.

The program was created by the Order of Australia Association’s Western Australian branch and has run in multiple Western Australian schools over the last few years. Throughout the program, students maintain a journal to reflect on their personal career preferences and what they have learned about a variety of occupations and industries. The program emphasises building literary, communication and numeracy skills, alongside seeking out post-school education and training in order to achieve career goals.

For other schools interested in running similar programs, Order of Australia has shared some case study materials including lesson plans, course journals and school planners. These materials are available at the Career Centre website’s School Zone page.
